The study in question
The study we are discussing was completed by the National Association of Realtors and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. This study showed that the return on investment for a new garage door is much higher than many people believe. It also had some interesting findings not just about garage doors but about remodeling in general.
Are renovations worth it?
It’s true that many homeowners would consider moving instead of taking on major renovations in their homes. However, the number of homeowners who would actually follow through is much shorter. According the survey, a little more than one-third of homeowners say they would rather move than remodel the home they are in.
Interestingly, 70% of people who live in rural areas would rather renovate than move, while only 55% of suburban homeowners would do the same, and only 52% of urban homeowners would rather renovation than move.
The reasons homeowners choose to renovate
The study found that one-third of people who renovate their home do so to improve the appearance. This can involve upgrading older appliances and fixtures in high traffic rooms like the kitchen, or it can involve improving curb appeal through landscaping and installing new shutters.
16% of homeowners who renovate do so to add features that make their home more livable. Only 13% of homeowners said that they renovated simply because it was time for a change.
A look at garage door replacement
In addition to general information about remodeling, the study also looked at specific upgrades and replacements, including garage doors. Of those who had recently changed their garage door, 65% said they did so because their garage door was old, worn out or did not work properly and that is why they replaced it, 12% said it was just time for a change, and half said that they wanted a garage door that was more suitable for their lifestyle.
94% of homeowners who replaced their garage door said they were glad they did. The study further found that the return on investment for the average garage door was an incredible 87%. This is much higher than most upgrades. If you are ready to find out more about your options, contact Dynamic Garage Door at 855-343-3667 for a consultation.
